WAYS TO STRENGTHEN THE IMMUNE SYSTEM IN SEASON TRANSITIONS

We have now entered the autumn adorned with yellowed leaves, and the winter months are imminent. Of course, this season brings with it the cold and flu season, with the opening of schools, short and dark days, as well as frequent and rapid temperature changes.


We all know that our immune system must be strong and work properly in order to be protected not only from these but also from all other infections. Do we know how to protect and strengthen our immune system?

To put it in its simplest form;
  • Adequate and quality sleep

  • Developing healthy and balanced eating habits

  • do regular exercise

  • Removing stress from our lives as much as possible

  • Getting rid of our excess weight

  • Eliminating cigarettes from our lives

  • Limiting alcohol if available

  • And of course, enough time to socialize.

Research shows that adults need an average of 7-8 hours of restful sleep in a calm and comfortable environment with room temperature in the range of 18-20 degrees depending on the season. An uninterrupted 6 hours of quality sleep was also found to be sufficient for the regeneration and recovery of the body.

With the cold weather, our body directs us to foods that contain more calories; whereas high-calorie fatty and simple carbohydrates affect our immune system negatively and cause a decrease in our protective antibody level. Rich in protein to strengthen our immune system and protect us from many diseases, especially infections; We should not forget that we need a diet supplemented with zinc, selenium, iron, folic acid, as well as vitamins A and B complex.

On cool spring days, we should not neglect to walk a lot and consume plenty of water.
